Industries: DIY

# Bulk goods. Wood cutting. *Drive-in.*

A home improvement store is twenty workflows, not one. Screws weighed out of a drawer, wood cutting with queue tickets, pallet goods from the warehouse, tradespeople with tax exemptions, and customers who want to be checked out right at the truck bed without leaving the car. SUMWARE runs the POS, the workshop, the outdoor garden area and the drive-in lane in the same system.

## From the garden bonsai to the drive-in lane.

Each of these steps has its own mechanics, and all of them land on the same receipt, the same customer number, the same promo logic. Here is how SUMWARE maps the everyday reality of a DIY store.

- Bulk Goods with Price Tiers

  ### Screws, mulch, dog food: sold by weight, not by barcode.

Selling screws from a drawer or kibble from a bulk bin means weighing or counting, not scanning. SUMWARE captures weight or quantity, assigns the correct price tier automatically and puts the item into the cart as a regular line item. Receipt and inventory stay clean.
- Service Terminal at the Cutting Station

  ### No more sticky notes on the particleboard.

At the cutting terminal, staff enter dimensions, choose edge options and place the finished item in the customer's digital cart. The customer walks straight to checkout, with no handwritten note, no mix-up and no retyping afterwards.
- Mobile Checkout in the Drive-In Lane

  ### Scanned on the truck bed, Tap to Pay at the car.

In the drive-in area, an associate scans the goods right on the truck bed. A pedestal display next to the car mirrors the cart live, and the customer taps to pay on the associate's phone without getting out of the car. A fast-food experience for the job site.
- Bulk Quantities & Pallet Goods

  ### Pallets, trailer loads, special orders.

When a customer buys two full pallets instead of ten bags, scanning labels one by one is off the table. SUMWARE has bulk modes with volume pricing, special orders and delivery-note attachments, and the receipt flows into accounting unchanged.
- Trade & Pro Accounts

  ### Net pricing, credit limit, invoice.

Business customers get their own terms: net prices, tax-exempt delivery, monthly invoicing, credit limits. SUMWARE recognizes the pro account at scan time, unlocks the matching functions and hands the invoice to accounting as XRechnung or ZUGFeRD on request.
- Click & Collect with Staff Notification

  ### Reserved online. Staff already in the loop.

Online reservations land directly on the store team's task list: who is picking up, what to prepare, which items still need picking. At pickup, one scan releases the prepared cart.
- Service Queue with Numbered Tickets

  ### Cutting, keys, tool handover: everything runs on a number.

The typical waiting areas in a DIY store run on digital queue tickets. Customers draw a ticket, see their position on the screen and keep shopping in the meantime. Staff work through the tickets in order. No crowding at the counter.
- Tool Rental

  ### A rotary hammer for the weekend, managed like a ski.

Tool rental runs in the same module as ski rental: tracked by serial number, with deposit, handover condition, return date and daily rate. The rotary hammer that leaves on Friday afternoon is back in the system on Monday morning.
- Material Lists Instead of Item-by-Item Scans

  ### The customer uploads the list. The cart fills itself.

Customers arriving with a carpenter's or architect's list upload it at the customer terminal as PDF, CSV or photo. SUMWARE parses the list, maps it to items and stages it as a suggested cart. The sales conversation is down to quantities and alternatives.
- Stock by Store, Delivery to the Yard

  ### "Do you have it in stock? Can you bring it to me?"

One look at the inventory map shows which store has the item, whether it can be reserved and which delivery windows the carrier still runs today. Delivery to the front yard or the job site is booked on the same receipt.
- Seasonal Promo Engine

  ### Garden furniture in April. Heating oil in October.

Seasonal promotions, weekly highlights, weather-driven promos: all defined as rules in the same module that runs set promotions and volume discounts. Marketing clicks the promotion together in the morning, and it is live at every POS by noon.
- Returns at Any Store

  ### Bought in Vienna, returned in Innsbruck.

Receipts are valid across all stores. A return or exchange works at any SUMWARE store, regardless of where the purchase was made. The original transaction is referenced, and the movement is cleanly reconciled between stores.
- Acoustic Fraud Detection

  ### A cash payout without a customer conversation becomes visible.

For returns, voids and cash withdrawals, SUMWARE Fraud Detection checks whether anyone spoke at the point of sale at all. It records nothing: all that is stored is a 0/1 pattern of the last 180 seconds, GDPR-compliant at its core. Suspicious transactions are flagged immediately, not just at the end-of-day close.
- ### Sound like your store?

We show you SUMWARE live on your assortment, from the loose screw to the drive-in pedestal. No obligation, 60 minutes.
